Biodiversity
Ecuador is one of 17 megadiverse countries in the world according to Conservation International. With 1600 bird species (15 percent of the world's known bird species) in the continental area, and 38 more endemic in the Galápagos. In addition to 25,000 species of plants, the country has 106 endemic reptiles, 138 endemic amphibians, and 6,000 species of butterfly. The Galápagos Islands are well known as a region of distinct fauna, famous as the place of birth of Darwin's Theory of Evolution, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Despite being on the UNESCO list, the Galapagos islands are endangered by a range of negative environmental effects, threatening the existence of this exotic ecosystem.
The Pacific Coast
Experience the exuberant nature of the Pacific Coast of Ecuador and the traditions and music of the coastal people. Here, the most ancient ceramic remains in all South America have been discovered along the coast. Explore nearby plantations of bananas, coffee, cocoa, balsa wood and tropical fruits in large haciendas and discover the way of life of its people. Navigate through mangrove forests, one of the richest ecosystems on Earth, or ride aboard an ancient steam “choo-choo,” dating back to the early 20 th century.
Guayaquil , Ecuador ’s largest city, is a river port that lies on the banks of the Guayas River, thirty miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. In the 1700’s Guayaquil became a favored target of notorious pirates.Here the vibe is tropical, in marked contrast to Ecuador’s Andean region. Temperatures range between 70° to 90° F ( 21°C and 30°C) year-round. The people of Guayaquil are outgoing; they enjoy their city and are fiercely proud of their heritage.
The Highlands

Come to experience the marvelous landscapes, the rich ancestral culture , the friendly people, the vivid and contrasting colors of the local products in the Indian markets and the magnificent Cordillera of the Andes dotted with snow-capped peaks, forming the “Avenue of the Volcanoes,” with lush green valleys at their foot.

The Amazon Rainforest

The Galápagos Islands
